The ADVISE Research Project “Antiviral DiscoVery Initiatives: Educating Next-Gen Scientists (ADVISE)-n.UR301-2023-000076 -BAC Spoke3- ECS_000024 ROME TECHNOPOLE M4-C2-LI 1.5, through SIMGBM, aims to award the best doctoral dissertation in the field of virology.
Doctoral dissertations defended at Italian universities in 2024 may be submitted for consideration.
Applications should be received by the secretariat of the Society electronically at simgbmsegreteria@gmail.com by February 28, 2025 in the form indicated below:
A) PDF file named “ADVISE-Surname_Name-Application” containing:
1) application bearing generalities, domicile, telephone and e-mail address, indication of the laboratory where the thesis was carried out, and indication of the award in which you intend to participate*.
2) brief curriculum vitae;
3) certificate (or self-certification) attesting to the achievement of the PhD degree.
4) Signed attestation (see attached) that the Tutor/Thesis speaker is a SIMGBM Member with regular membership status including 2024. Regular membership status of the Tutor is one of the prerequisites for the validity of the application.
B) PDF file named “ADVISE-Surname_Name-Thesis” containing a copy of the thesis, including the abstract and any supplementary materials. In case the file is too heavy, it is possible to send it via the web (wetransfer, google or other). However, please specify.
The prize of € 1,000 will be awarded upon the unquestionable judgment of a specially appointed committee; The winner will be notified in writing by 30/04/2025 and the results will be published on the website www.simgbm.it. The winner will be required to participate in the next SIMGBM Congress, Microbiology 2025 to be held in Rome from September 17-20, 2025 and to publicly present the awarded work there.

The winner of the ADVISE Prize is Dr. Giulia Sibille (University of Turin) for her thesis entitled TARGETING VIRUSES USING A NOVEL hDHODH INHIBITOR.
