Why join SIMGBM

SIMGBM aims to foster studies and research in general microbiology and microbial biotechnology and to disseminate microbiological knowledge in civil society, at all levels.


Joining SIMGBM offers the opportunity to connect with other researchers active in Italy in the fields of microbiology and microbial biotechnology, to promote your work, encourage collaboration and exchange, and take an active role in the organisation of scientific and outreach initiatives.

SIMGBM is a member of FISV (Italian Federation of Life Sciences) and FEMS (Federation of European Microbiological Societies).

Regulations

If you wish to join SIMGBM, please complete one of the two application forms below and email it to the contacts indicated in the text.

Ordinary members

This request is for Structured Members (RTD included) and Unstructured Members and must be signed by two presenting members.

The association shall take effect on January 1 of the year following the year of this application.

The first year’s membership fee must be paid following our formal notice of acceptance, which will occur after approval of this application by the Annual Meeting of Members.

Dues for the following years will be paid no later than April 30 of the relevant year. The annual fee is €60 for Structured Members and €30 for Unstructured Members.

Junior Members

This request is valid for young graduate students, doctoral students, and fellows who are under the age of 31 and must be signed by a presenting member.

Junior Member membership begins on January 1 of the year of application and lasts for 4 years or automatically lapses in December of the year in which the member turns 31.

A one-time membership fee of €30, valid for the entire Junior membership period, must be paid at the time of application. At the end of this period, the member must notify SIMGBM if they wish to continue as an Ordinary Member.
