Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to announce the upcoming EMBO Practical Course titled “Contaminated site remediation with genomics: Boosting bioremediation in South America” , scheduled to take place from October 20 to 28, 2025 in Valparaíso, Chile .
This hybrid course is a collaborative initiative between Chilean institutions-UniversidadTécnica Federico Santa María and Universidad de Playa Ancha-andEuropean partners, including Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca, MicrobEco, and M3R – Monitoring and Management of Microbial Resources.
The course aims to foster international cooperation in the field of bioremediation by promoting the use of sustainable technologies in South America and other regions. It seeks to bridge countries with varying levels of experience in environmental biotechnology applications. The program is designed for young scientists interested in developing skills and expertise in environmental biotechnology.
Participants will engage in both field and laboratory activities, processing molecular data in bioinformatics sessions. A virtual roundtable will facilitate interactions among scientists, public authorities, companies, and citizens, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing environmental challenges.
