November 11-13, 2024, Trieste
The National Research Organization Area Science Park, with the collaboration of the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology – ICGEB, is organizing the International Scientific Conference “Pandemic preparedness: Achievements, current challenges, and new frontiers,” scheduled for Nov. 11-13, 2024, in Trieste, Italy.
The scientific event is an integral part of the project “Pathogen Readiness Platform for CERIC-ERIC upgrade” – PRP@CERIC funded by PNRR Next Generation EU funds, dedicated to Research Infrastructure, and aimed at enhancing the CERIC-ERIC Distributed Research Infrastructure with the integration of a platform dedicated to the study of pathogens.
The goal of the conference is to provide an overview of known and emerging viruses and their potential epidemic risk as well as to foster knowledge sharing and networking, encouraging the development of broad synergies and multidisciplinary cooperation. Diagnostics, epidemiology, surveillance, drug discovery, and preventive approaches will be discussed, with the ultimate intent of implementing synergistic, innovative, and effective response strategies to address the challenges of (re)emerging infectious diseases and respond to future pandemics.
The conference will feature international experts in different disciplines applied to the study of pathogens, such as virology, structural biology, genomics, Artificial Intelligence, data management, clinical diagnostics, infectious diseases, and zoonoses, and will feature a rich program including thematic plenary sessions, oral presentations, and poster sessions.
Considering the purpose of SIMGBM, which is engaged in fostering studies and research in general microbiology and microbial biotechnology in multiple fields, such as those of bacteriology, virology, mycology, phycology, protozoology, and the technologies in which the aforementioned organisms and their products are used for the production of goods and services, as well as in disseminating microbiological knowledge in civil society, at all levels, we would be pleased to receive support. Such a form of support, without any financial commitment, would, in our opinion, represent a significant added value for the Conference and could facilitate access to this opportunity for a wide audience of experienced researchers, academics, physicians, health professionals, active in the field of microbiology and biotechnology of microorganisms, but also for young researchers taking their first steps in pathogen research at various levels.
